If you pay for The Weather Channel’s TV app, your bill just went up. From $3 to $5 a month, or $30 to $50 a year. That’s a 67% jump.
The app streams the channel’s live broadcast on Android TV, Fire TV, Roku, and Samsung TVs. It also offers on-demand shows, local forecasts, maps, and radar.
The price was $3/month as recently as April 2026. By July, it’s $5. No warning, just a new price tag.
The Weather Channel faces a tough market. Free weather apps are everywhere. Local news covers it. Your phone does it. Paying $50 a year for weather is a harder sell than it used to be.
They’re not alone in raising prices though. Streaming services across the board are hiking rates as they try to figure out profitability. The difference is most of them offer exclusive content. The Weather Channel offers weather. Which you can also get for free from a dozen other places.
If you’re a loyal user, you’ll probably pay it. If you weren’t sure, this might be the push to find another option.
