Tesla’s robotaxis are now operating in a small section of West Miami. It’s not downtown, but people are already riding in unsupervised vehicles — no safety monitor onboard. That’s a shift from the Austin launch, where controversy swirled around having humans in the car at all.
The service area is limited for now, but Tesla’s been expanding fast. Last month it opened up the entire Austin metro. Miami should follow the same pattern.
Why Miami? Waymo’s already there. Zoox is testing there too. It’s becoming a robotaxi battleground. Tesla’s roadmap also lists Phoenix, Las Vegas, Orlando, and Tampa as future targets.
Competition’s heating up. Watch this space.
