You like the macOS look but want to switch to Linux. Good news: Zorin OS can get you there without spending anything. A few quick tweaks and the desktop starts feeling familiar.
The easiest path is buying Zorin OS Pro for $47.99. Open the Appearance app, pick the macOS layout, done. But that license doesn’t carry over to the next major release, so if you like staying current you’d pay that every time.
The free approach takes a bit more work but isn’t hard.
First, open the Zorin Appearance app and select the GNOME layout. That gives you a single top bar. Then flip the titlebar buttons from right to left. Now it’s starting to look like a Mac.
Next, add a dock. Go to Extensions, enable Zorin Dash, and tweak the settings. Shrink the icon size, enable the floating rounded theme. Much better.
For the app menu, enable Zorin Menu in Extensions. It’ll sit on the left side of your top bar. Then grab a macOS wallpaper, set it as your background, and you’re done.
It’s not a perfect replica, but it’s close enough that the switch won’t feel jarring. And it costs nothing.
