Galaxy just handed over 133 megawatts of IT load to CoreWeave at its Helios campus in West Texas. That’s Phase I of converting a bitcoin mine into an AI data center.
The trend keeps accelerating. Bitcoin miners have the power infrastructure AI companies need — substations, cooling, land. CoreWeave, a cloud provider focused on GPU compute, is taking advantage of that.
This isn’t a small pilot. 133 MW is serious capacity. When you consider the whole site is being retrofitted, it’s one of the bigger Bitcoin-to-AI conversions we’ve seen.
Galaxy gets to repurpose an asset that was tied to crypto mining economics. CoreWeave gets a facility without having to build from scratch. Both sides win.
Expect more of these deals. Every mining company with good power contracts is going to get a call from an AI cloud provider. The question is which ones convert first — and how fast.
