Flipper Zero’s firmware isn’t dead. It’s just getting a new model.
Flipper Devices says development continues, but with a smaller internal team and more community input. The gadget maker is shifting focus to new hardware — the Flipper One open Linux platform and the Busy Bar ADHD productivity tool (open sale July 14).
The firmware hit version 1.0 in September 2024 after three years of work. The latest stable release is 1.4.3 from December 2025. The team felt it had reached maturity with a stable SDK and all promised features implemented.
But recent interviews gave the impression development had stopped. The community pushed back hard.
So here’s the new approach: pull requests get evaluated weekly. Communication happens only through GitHub Discussions where users vote on requests. Community PRs are accepted but with stricter review. Integration and regression testing is mandatory and open to the community.
There are now over a million Flipper Zero users. The small team couldn’t keep up with the volume, which is why direct messages on all social channels are disabled. The community now decides what comes next.
