I’ve been a Mini LED guy for a while. Brighter, cheaper, good enough. Then I spent a week with the LG C6 OLED. Now I’m not so sure.
This thing is gorgeous. The colors are bold, the blacks are proper blacks, and the contrast control is noticeably better than the C5. Less bloom. Less halo effect around bright objects on dark backgrounds. The 65-inch model starts at $2,700, which is steep — but you can find it on sale.
The redesigned processor uses machine learning to tune picture and sound to your room. Or you can go manual and tweak everything: RGB, gamma, white balance, contrast. Seven picture modes. Cinema Home adds a warm wash for that retro feel. Standard and Vivid lean into the native color spectrum. Game Optimizer mode drops input latency to basically nothing and uses Nvidia G-Sync VRR. I played Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight with zero lag adjustment. It just worked.
Sound is decent out of the box too. AI Sound, Standard, and Voice Clarity modes. You can tell the TV if it’s on a stand or wall-mounted to optimize audio. Not as much control as I’d like, but enough to skip a soundbar if you’re not an audiophile.
What’s not great? It’s still not as bright as I’d want. Dimly lit scenes in movies can lose detail to heavy contrast. And the AI features sometimes feel like they’re solving problems nobody had.
But for color accuracy and picture quality? This is the best OLED I’ve seen from LG.
