Cardano’s Protocol Version 11 upgrade — dubbed “van Rossem” — is almost here. Both Binance and Coinbase have signaled they’re operationally ready.
The hard fork is named after the late Max van Rossem, honoring his work on the Cardano community and governance system. It’s an “intra-era” fork, meaning developers can add features without jumping to a new blockchain era. Minimal disruption is the goal.
What’s in it? Cheaper smart contracts. ZK-ready cryptography. New built-in functions. It’s designed as a bridge to Cardano’s next Dijkstra era.
Readiness metrics look solid. 88% of all blocks minted in the past week came from V11 node software. The upgrade ran successfully on Preview and Preprod testnets. Voting thresholds from Delegated Representatives (DReps) and SPOs have been reached.
One last thing needed: sign-off from the Constitutional Committee. Once that happens, the fork goes live.
