According to the publication titled “WEMIX says attacker moved about $724,000 after contract breach,” malicious actors successfully extracted 724,198 USDC.e from vulnerable contracts.
This incident underscores ongoing security challenges in blockchain DeFi ecosystems. The attack occurred while WEMIX$ tokens were actively trading on liquidity pools and through arbitrarbridging operations. Following the compromise, emergency protocols triggered automatic halting of affected services including major bridge transfers that connect different blockchains.
