Grayscale Pitches 22% Bitcoin Yield Strategy as On-Chain Data Shows Bottom Signals

Grayscale is promoting a covered call strategy that allows Bitcoin holders to earn yield during range-bound market conditions, even as on-chain data from Glassnode detects early signals that a bear market bottom may be forming.

The strategy, which Grayscale outlined in a recent note to investors, involves holding Bitcoin while selling call options that give someone else the right to purchase the asset at a predetermined price. In exchange, the seller receives a premium payment upfront. Grayscale highlighted that this approach can generate annualized yields of around 22% in the current market environment.

Covered call strategies are common in traditional finance, where investors sell options against stocks they already own to generate additional income. Applying the same concept to Bitcoin allows holders to earn from the asset’s volatility without having to sell their position. The trade-off is that the seller caps their upside if Bitcoin’s price rises sharply above the strike price.

Grayscale’s timing is notable. The firm is marketing the strategy during a period when Bitcoin has been trading in a relatively narrow range after a significant correction from its all-time highs. In such conditions, option premiums can be attractive because implied volatility remains elevated even as the spot price consolidates.

Separately, Glassnode’s latest analysis shows early signals that could indicate a bear market bottom is forming. Metrics such as long-term holder behavior, exchange flows, and realized capitalization trends are beginning to resemble patterns seen at previous cyclical lows. However, the firm cautioned that it is too early to confirm a definitive bottom.

The combination of Grayscale actively promoting yield-generating strategies and Glassnode detecting potential bottom signals suggests that the market may be transitioning from a phase of active selling into one of accumulation, though significant uncertainty remains about near-term direction.
