Paradigm Raises $1.2 Billion for New Fund to Push Beyond Crypto Into AI

Crypto venture firm Paradigm just closed a $1.2 billion fourth fund. And it’s not just putting money into crypto this time — AI, robotics, and other frontier tech are now on the menu.

The firm announced Wednesday that its latest fund will invest “first in crypto, and now across AI, robotics and other frontiers.” Paradigm’s been around since 2018 and has raised over $4 billion across three crypto-only funds. But the AI boom is pulling eyes — and dollars — away from digital assets.

It’s not alone in this shift. Framework Ventures raised $400 million last month for a fund that also stretches beyond crypto. Haun Ventures pulled in $1 billion in May for its own crypto-plus-AI push. The pattern’s clear: crypto VCs are following the money.

Global venture funding hit a record $510 billion in the first half of 2026. AI companies ate most of that — OpenAI and Anthropic alone accounted for over 40%. Crypto, by comparison, captured just $10.8 billion.

Paradigm said some of its non-crypto bets include Zipline (autonomous drone delivery), SendCutSend (robotic metal fabrication), and Nous Research, which created the open-source Hermes Agent model. The firm also continues building blockchain tools like Foundry and Reth.

“We continue investing in crypto and the reinvention of markets and the financial system,” Paradigm said, pointing to its stakes in Hyperliquid and Kalshi.

Crypto exchanges like Coinbase and Crypto.com have also been diving into AI agents. The line between the two industries keeps blurring.
