Keyfactor lands $1B+ investment to tackle AI and post-quantum security

Keyfactor just raised over $1 billion. That’s not a typo. The company builds cryptographic security tools for managing machine identities, PKI, and AI agent security — and investors are betting big.

The funding was led by Summit Partners. Existing backers Insight Partners and Sixth Street Growth are keeping their stakes too.

Why now? Enterprises are drowning in machine identities — bots, APIs, AI agents. There are often more machine identities than human ones in a given organization. Keyfactor’s platform, called the Trust Control Plane, gives companies centralized visibility into all those certificates and cryptographic assets across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments.

Then there’s the post-quantum piece. The White House signed an executive order in June 2026 pushing federal agencies to migrate to quantum-safe crypto by 2030. That deadline is real, and it’s not far off. Companies need to start preparing now, and Keyfactor wants to be the platform they use to do it.

Andy Collins from Summit Partners put it plainly: the convergence of post-quantum prep, AI governance, shorter certificate lifespans, and new regulations is creating urgent demand for a unified platform. Keyfactor manages billions of machine identities a year for over 2,500 organizations. They’ve got the scale.

The money will go toward global expansion, product development, hiring, and acquisitions. This is a company positioning itself for the next decade of cryptographic security.
