Bentley made it official: their first electric car is called the Torcal, and it’ll be fully revealed in London on September 23.
CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser called it “the most considered car in our history,” saying it sets “extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters.” High bar, but Bentley has been working on this since at least 2021, when they first announced plans for an electric SUV.
The Torcal joins the Bentayga, Bacalar, and Batur in the lineup. Name follows the same pattern: a natural landmark. This time it’s El Torcal de Antequera in Spain. Bonus: the Latin root “torquere” also gives us the word torque. Not subtle, but fair.
Spy shots from Arctic Circle testing showed a fastback shape inspired by last year’s EXP 15 design concept. Nürburgring photos caught the interior too — red leather, black Alcantara, a big curved display, and actual tactile controls. Bentley says it carries forward the craftsmanship that’s defined the brand since 1919.
