The legendary distro — yes, that Hannah Montana Linux — has been remastered as v26, nearly two decades after the original. It’s now built on Debian with a re-skinned KDE Plasma desktop.
If you weren’t online in the late 2000s, this probably sounds bizarre. But Hannah Montana Linux was a real thing. A pink-themed Ubuntu spin aimed at fans of the Disney star. It had custom wallpapers, themes, and a boot screen featuring Miley Cyrus’s alter ego.
It was goofy. It was fun. And it was surprisingly popular in the Linux community as a piece of internet culture.
The new version updates everything to modern standards. Debian 12 under the hood. KDE Plasma instead of the old GNOME 2 desktop. The pink aesthetic is intact, but it’s been dialed back enough that you could actually use this as a daily driver without embarrassment.
Is anyone running this unironically in 2026? Probably. Linux users are a weird bunch. And that’s exactly why this remaster exists.
