Securitize Goes Public on NYSE, Tokenized Shares Hit Solana and Avalanche

Securitize, the BlackRock-backed tokenization firm, started trading on the New York Stock Exchange Thursday under the ticker SECZ. Shares were up more than 8% on day one, sitting around $12.75.

The company went public through a merger with a Cantor Fitzgerald-backed blank check firm, eight years after its founding. But here’s the twist: SECZ isn’t just on the NYSE. Tokenized versions worth $266 million were issued on Solana and Avalanche, making it the largest tokenized stock in the world.

“We have long said that public equities are moving on-chain,” said Carlos Domingo, Securitize’s CEO. “SECZ is not a synthetic token or offshore wrapper. It is issuer-sponsored tokenization of the same common stock trading on the NYSE.”

The tokenized shares are initially available on Avalanche and Solana, plus through Securitize’s regulated platform. Earlier this week, Securitize President Brett Redfearn pointed to decentralized lending as a major opportunity when middlemen get cut out.

As of June, Securitize had over $4 billion in assets under management. Not bad for a firm that’s been around since 2018.
