We just got our best look yet at Samsung’s next foldable. Case manufacturer images published by Android Headlines show what appears to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 — a wide, passport-style device that would be a major departure from Samsung’s current book-style design.
The images show case designs for two Galaxy Z Fold 8 models and the Galaxy Z Flip 8, with the phones visible inside. They confirm details from earlier leaks: a wide form factor, selfie camera built into the cover display, and a double-camera setup on the rear.
Here’s where it gets confusing. Recent leaks suggest Samsung may rebrand its lineup: the wide foldable becomes the Z Fold 8, while the traditional narrower book-style foldable gets rebranded as the Z Fold 8 Ultra. The Z Flip 8 images look similar to the current Flip 7.
Samsung is expected to officially unveil the new foldables at a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22nd. That’s later than usual, but it would let the wide Z Fold 8 hit the market before Apple’s own foldable iPhone, rumored for September.
Case leaks aren’t everything, but they’re usually close to the real thing. If these images are accurate, Samsung’s betting big on a wider form factor — and betting that customers want something closer to a small tablet than a tall phone when unfolded.
