Slate Auto just turned on the online configurator for its electric pickup, and the numbers check out. The base Blank Slate pickup starts at $24,950 before taxes and fees — genuinely under that $25K headline figure.
The truck uses a 63 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a 181 hp electric motor driving the rear wheels. EPA range is estimated at 205 miles. DC fast charging can take you from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes at up to 120 kW via a NACS port.
Go wild with the options and you can push it toward $37,000. A basic work truck with some decals ran about $25,290 in our quick build. Not bad for a ground-up EV startup.
Ars Technica got to play with the configurator and will have time with a prototype soon. We’re still waiting on some answers like the delivery charge, but so far the pricing looks honest.
