Nex Playground Drops Back to Pre-RAMageddon Price for Prime Day

Remember the Nex Playground? The Kinect-like motion gaming console for kids is on sale for $239 during Prime Day — down from its current $299 MSRP. That matches its original pre-RAMageddon price of $250, making it one of the better tech deals floating around right now.

The Nex Playground is basically what would happen if Microsoft’s Kinect had a kid-focused successor. It’s an all-in-one motion-controlled console that tracks body movement for interactive games. One Verge editor’s kids apparently laughed, cried, and asked for more playtime even when they were sick. That’s a solid endorsement.

The console got caught in the RAM price crisis back in April, when its price jumped from $199 to $299. This Prime Day deal at $239 is a $60 discount, but we’re still not back to those $199 days. Welcome to the new normal.

A few things to know before you buy: you’ll want a subscription to get the most out of it. The Play Pass runs $49 for three months or $89 for a year, unlocking a much deeper game catalog beyond the starter titles. The subscription economy comes for us all.

You can grab it at Amazon, Walmart, or Best Buy — all three have it at $239.
