Laptop prices have been brutal lately. The RAM shortage has pushed costs up across the board — even models that have been out for months got price hikes. New releases are arriving higher than their predecessors. If you need a machine now, Prime Day at least takes some of the sting out.
MacBooks: The base 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 runs $1,549 ($150 off) at Amazon and Best Buy. It’s a solid workhorse — 16GB RAM, 1TB storage, plenty of ports. The M5 MacBook Air starts at $949.99 (13-inch) and $1,149.99 (15-inch) at Amazon, with Best Buy matching on the 13-inch at $949. Step up to the M5 Pro MacBook Pro (24GB RAM, 1TB) and you’re looking at $2,034 at Amazon.
Windows laptops: Microsoft’s 13-inch Surface Laptop is $1,099 at Amazon. Lenovo’s IdeaPad Slim 3x with 512GB is $449 at Walmart — the speakers are terrible and the trackpad’s mediocre, but the Snapdragon X chip and battery life are legit. Acer’s Aspire 14 AI is $590 at Amazon (Prime members), packing a Core Ultra 7 256V Lunar Lake processor. Asus’s Zenbook A14 drops to $750 at Best Buy.
Gaming laptops: The 2025 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is $1,450 at Best Buy (Ryzen 9 2700, RTX 5060) — a huge $850 discount. The Zephyrus G16 runs $1,575. Acer’s Predator Helios Neo 16 AI is $1,600 at Amazon, and the Nitro V 16S AI is $1,100.
Peripherals: Logitech’s MX Master 3S mouse is $90. Keychron V5 Ultra keyboard is $108. A 32-inch LG UltraGear OLED gaming monitor drops to $685. Elgato Stream Deck MK.2 is $120. And 8BitDo’s Xbox-themed Retro 87 keyboard is $71 at Amazon.
Prime Day counter-deals are running at Best Buy and Walmart too, so shop around if you’re not married to Amazon.
