Microsoft has issued a warning: if you upgraded your PC to Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2, you might be hitting a wall when trying to install this month’s Patch Tuesday updates. The company confirmed the issue on Tuesday but hasn’t shared a full root cause yet.
Affected machines simply fail during the update process, leaving them stuck without the latest security fixes—which is especially rough timing given the RoguePlanet zero-day also making headlines today. It’s the kind of catch-22 that makes sysadmins groan: you need the patch, but the patch won’t install.
If you’re managing a fleet of upgraded Windows 11 devices, it’s worth checking update status across your endpoints. Microsoft says it’s working on a fix, but in the meantime, affected users are in a holding pattern. We’ll update when there’s a resolution.
