Most Religious Books on Amazon Likely AI-Written, Study Reveals

According to Decrypt, a recent investigation has shed light on the prevalence of artificial intelligence in religious literature available for purchase online. The study analyzed over 2,000 titles categorized as “religious books” sold through major e-commerce platforms.

The findings indicate that approximately 63% of these items contain text likely generated by AI tools. Within this broad category, specific sub-genres showed even higher concentrations of algorithmic content. Particularly notable was the segment dedicated to witchcraft literature, which recorded the highest rate at 78%. This suggests a significant shift in how certain types of spiritual and esoteric knowledge are being produced.

The analysis relied on data from Originality.ai, an industry-standard tool designed to detect patterns typical of machine-generated text. Experts warn that this trend could impact consumer trust regarding the authenticity of religious guidance found online. As more authors adopt AI assistance for drafting manuscripts, distinguishing between human insight and synthetic output becomes increasingly difficult.

The surge in AI-written content within these niches may reflect broader changes in publishing economics or a demand for rapid production cycles specific to occult markets. Readers seeking genuine spiritual experiences might now face the challenge of verifying whether their purchased books offer authentic wisdom or merely simulated perspectives crafted by algorithms.
