EU authorities include HTX exchange in Russian sanctions

Brussels has expanded its digital asset crackdown, adding HTX to the roster of European Union sanctioned entities.

The EU financial regulatory watchdog now lists the cryptocurrency exchange among 18 organizations that defy Brussels measures against Russia. This marks another escalation as the bloc tightens controls on illicit flows involving its rapidly growing digital asset ecosystem.

This sanction comes after HTX already appeared on UK sanction lists, creating overlapping pressure from across Europe and beyond.

Industry sources note: The exchange is now subject to coordinated enforcement between London, Brussels, and other major financial regulators. “Entities can no longer assume sanctions evasion will work through jurisdictional loopholes,” according to these same sources familiar with EU policy circles.

The sanctioned entities list applies both within member states territories and in third countries where those nations maintain influence or control over crypto transactions involving listed addresses.
