Galaxy Digital has secured a 15-year naming rights agreement with Texas Tech University, renaming the Lubbock football stadium to Galaxy Stadium. The deal, reported by Yahoo Sports to be worth more than $70 million, marks one of the most significant corporate-naming partnerships in college athletics involving a crypto-native firm.
The arrangement extends beyond signage. Galaxy Digital, the Nasdaq-listed digital asset financial services firm founded by Mike Novogratz, will become the university’s official digital assets partner. The broader partnership encompasses digital assets, data center development, AI integration, and name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities for student athletes.
Texas Tech’s stadium, previously known as Jones AT&T Stadium, has served as the Red Raiders’ home for over eight decades. The rebranding to Galaxy Stadium begins with the 2026 season.
The deal highlights how crypto firms are increasingly embedding themselves into mainstream American culture through sports sponsorships. Galaxy’s bet is on West Texas, a region rich in cheap power and open land that has become a hub for Bitcoin mining and data center development. As noted by The Block and Decrypt, the agreement signals Galaxy’s commitment to expanding its physical presence in the state as Texas attracts growing crypto and AI infrastructure investment.
