Ripple Payments Europe Joins MiCA Register Alongside 14 Other Crypto Firms

Ripple Payments Europe has been added to the European MiCA register alongside 14 other firms, bringing the total number of authorised crypto service providers across the European Union to 294. The registration confirms Ripple’s regulated status in the bloc under the Markets in Crypto-Assets framework.

The MiCA regulation, which came into full effect this year, requires all crypto asset service providers operating in the EU to obtain authorisation from a member state regulator. Ripple secured its registration through the Dutch financial regulator, building on its existing presence in Europe. The company had previously obtained a full MiCA licence through Luxembourg’s financial regulator.

The addition of 14 new firms to the register brings the total to 294, though the pace of new registrations has slowed compared to earlier this year when a wave of companies rushed to secure authorisation ahead of the regulatory deadline. The cooling momentum suggests that most major players have already obtained their licences, with remaining applicants being smaller or more specialised firms.

For Ripple, the MiCA registration provides a clear regulatory framework for offering its payments and liquidity services across all 27 EU member states. The company has been expanding its European operations, building on its existing customer base among financial institutions using RippleNet for cross-border payments.

The MiCA framework has been credited with providing regulatory clarity that has attracted institutional participation in the European crypto market. However, some industry participants have noted that compliance costs and operational requirements have led some smaller firms to exit the European market rather than pursue authorisation.
