Galaxy Digital, the Nasdaq-listed digital asset financial services firm, has secured the naming rights for Texas Tech University’s football stadium in a 15-year agreement. The venue will be rebranded as Galaxy Stadium, marking one of the largest crypto-focused corporate sponsorships in college sports.
The deal reflects Galaxy Digital’s broader strategic bet on Texas, a state that has become a hub for cryptocurrency mining and blockchain infrastructure due to its cheap power and abundant open land. The partnership with Texas Tech also provides Galaxy with significant brand exposure in a region that is increasingly central to the US crypto industry.
Under the agreement, Galaxy Digital will sponsor the home of the Red Raiders football team, which competes in the Big 12 conference. Financial terms were not disclosed, but naming rights deals for major college football stadiums typically run into the tens of millions of dollars over the contract period.
The partnership is notable for its crypto-specific branding, a departure from traditional corporate sponsorships from banks, energy companies, and telecoms that typically dominate stadium naming rights. Galaxy’s logo will appear on the field and throughout the venue during games and events.
Texas has emerged as a key battleground for crypto adoption, with cheap electricity from the state’s deregulated grid attracting major Bitcoin mining operations. The state has also seen increased interest from crypto businesses seeking regulatory clarity and a favorable business environment.
