Pi Coin Rises as Pi Network Overhauls Mobile Mining App

Pi Network’s native token, PI, rose more than 3.5% over the past 24 hours, bucking a broader cryptocurrency market that lost nearly 3%. The gain came as Pi Network began rolling out a design refresh of its mobile mining application, offering a rare bright spot for a token that recently hit a record low.

The app overhaul introduces a redesigned user interface intended to make the mining process more intuitive and accessible. Pi Network, which allows users to mine cryptocurrency through a mobile phone application rather than energy-intensive hardware, has built a large user base since its launch but has faced criticism over the prolonged wait for its mainnet launch.

PI’s price action suggests that the upgrade has generated renewed interest among users and traders. The token had been under sustained selling pressure in recent weeks, with prices falling to all-time lows amid broader market weakness. The redesign could help reverse some of that sentiment by demonstrating continued development activity from the Pi Core Team.

The broader cryptocurrency market remained under pressure, with Bitcoin trading below $63,000 and most major altcoins posting losses. PI’s relative strength during this period highlights the impact that project-specific catalysts can have even in a bearish macro environment.

Pi Network has not yet announced a firm date for its Open Mainnet transition, which would allow external transactions and exchange listings. The app redesign is seen by some community members as a preparatory step toward that milestone, though the timeline remains uncertain.
