MegaETH Winds Down Mega Mafia Accelerator After Most Successful Projects Departed

MegaETH, the high-performance Ethereum layer-2 network, has announced the sunsetting of its Mega Mafia accelerator program. The initiative, which incubated approximately 20 projects, is being wound down after the company acknowledged that most of its successful applications had already left the program.

The accelerator did not take equity or governance positions in the projects it supported, according to statements from MegaETH. This hands-off approach may have contributed to the program’s inability to retain successful graduates, as projects were free to pursue independent paths without ongoing ties to the accelerator.

The decision to close the program comes as MegaETH refocuses its resources on core infrastructure development. The layer-2 network has been working on building a high-throughput blockchain designed to support latency-sensitive applications such as on-chain gaming and high-frequency trading.

Mega Mafia was launched as part of MegaETH’s broader ecosystem development strategy, providing mentorship, technical support, and initial funding to early-stage projects building on the network. While the program attracted a range of participants across DeFi, gaming, and infrastructure, the lack of formal retention mechanisms appears to have limited its long-term impact.

The shutdown of the accelerator does not affect the ongoing operation of the MegaETH network itself, which continues to process transactions independently. The company has not announced any replacement program but indicated that it will continue to support ecosystem growth through other initiatives.
