T. Rowe Price, the $1.9 trillion asset manager, has launched its first actively managed multi-token cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund. The TKNZ Active Crypto ETF began trading on Thursday after the firm filed for the product in October 2025.
The launch marks a significant milestone for institutional crypto adoption, as T. Rowe Price is one of the largest and most established traditional asset managers to offer a dedicated crypto ETF. The fund is actively managed, meaning a team of portfolio managers will make decisions about which cryptocurrencies to hold and in what proportions, rather than simply tracking a passive index.
The ETF provides investors with exposure to a diversified portfolio of digital assets through a familiar regulated fund structure, eliminating the need for investors to manage private keys or navigate cryptocurrency exchange accounts. This structure is particularly appealing to registered investment advisors and pension funds that have been cautious about direct crypto exposure.
T. Rowe Price joins a growing list of major asset managers offering crypto ETFs. BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust has been the most successful, accumulating billions in assets since its launch. The availability of multiple competing products from trusted financial brands has been a key factor in broadening institutional participation in cryptocurrency markets.
The launch comes amid a period of mixed sentiment in crypto markets, with Bitcoin prices significantly below their all-time highs but institutional infrastructure continuing to develop. The Securities and Exchange Commission has been reviewing additional crypto ETF applications, including proposals for spot Solana and XRP funds.
