Citadel Securities Invests 400 Million in Crypto.com at 20 Billion Valuation

Citadel Securities has invested $400 million in Crypto.com at a $20 billion valuation, marking the trading giants first institutional funding round. The investment will be used to expand the exchanges tokenization and derivatives operations.

The deal represents one of the largest single investments by a traditional financial institution in a cryptocurrency exchange, underscoring the deepening ties between Wall Street and the digital asset industry. Crypto.com, which is based in Singapore, has been one of the most aggressive exchanges in pursuing regulatory approvals and institutional partnerships globally.

The $20 billion valuation is a significant premium over many of Crypto.com publicly traded competitors but below the peak valuations seen during the 2021 bull market. The exchange has maintained strong retail trading volumes and has been expanding its product suite to include spot crypto trading, derivatives, and tokenized assets.

Crypto.com plans to use the capital from Citadel Securities to strengthen its institutional offerings, particularly in tokenization and derivatives. The exchange has been investing heavily in compliance infrastructure and has obtained regulatory licenses in multiple jurisdictions, including the US, UK, and Singapore.

Citadel Securities, one of the worlds largest market makers, has been gradually increasing its exposure to digital assets. The firm has been involved in crypto market making through partnerships and has been expanding its digital asset team, signaling growing institutional confidence in cryptocurrency markets.
