Morgan Stanleys E-TRADE Launches Retail Spot Crypto Trading via Zero Hash Partnership

E-TRADE, the retail brokerage arm of Morgan Stanley, has begun offering spot cryptocurrency trading to eligible clients through a partnership with crypto infrastructure provider Zero Hash. The move brings Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana trading directly to the platforms millions of retail customers.

Zero Hash, which provides the backend custody and settlement infrastructure for the new service, is a regulated crypto technology firm that powers digital asset offerings for a range of financial institutions. The partnership allows E-TRADE to offer crypto trading without building the underlying infrastructure itself, a model that is becoming increasingly common among traditional brokerages entering the space.

Eligible E-TRADE retail clients can now buy, sell, and hold the three cryptocurrencies directly within their existing brokerage accounts, eliminating the need to manage separate exchange accounts or wallet software. The integration means users can view their crypto holdings alongside traditional securities in a unified portfolio.

Morgan Stanleys entry into retail crypto trading through its E-TRADE brand represents a significant milestone for mainstream adoption. The bank joins a growing list of traditional financial institutions that have begun offering digital asset services to their clients, though most have proceeded cautiously amid ongoing regulatory uncertainty.

The launch comes at a time when institutional interest in cryptocurrency infrastructure is accelerating. Citadel Securities recently invested $400 million in Crypto.com, and major asset managers are launching crypto-focused exchange-traded funds. The convergence of traditional finance and digital assets continues to reshape the competitive landscape for both sectors.

For Zero Hash, the partnership with one of the largest retail brokerages in the US validates its business-to-business infrastructure model. The company now powers crypto offerings for multiple well-known financial brands, positioning itself as a key intermediary between traditional finance and the digital asset ecosystem.
