Bitdefender wants European organizations to keep their data inside EU borders. It’s launching what it calls the Sovereignty Acceleration Program, aimed at making sure customer data, security events, and telemetry are processed and stored exclusively in the EU.
The pitch is straightforward. Many cybersecurity vendors have EU data centers, but they’re still subject to foreign legal jurisdictions. That’s becoming a problem as European regulations tighten. Bitdefender’s program targets public sector, financial services, healthcare, and critical infrastructure — the industries most likely to get hit with compliance requirements.
It also includes a contract buyout incentive to help organizations migrate from non-EU providers. Switching vendors isn’t cheap, and Bitdefender seems to be banking on that being a real barrier for its competitors.
The program runs on Bitdefender’s GravityZone platform. That means endpoint protection, detection, and response are all part of the package. The message is: you don’t have to choose between data sovereignty and solid security.
GDPR, NIS2, DORA — pick your regulation. They all point in the same direction. European data, European control. Bitdefender is positioning itself as the answer.
