Tokenized real world assets are on a tear. The market hit $32.22 billion in distributed on-chain value by the end of June — almost triple the $11.8 billion from a year earlier. Add stablecoins, and the broader tokenized market sits at over $328.8 billion.
Standard Chartered predicts DeFi assets could hit $2.7 trillion by 2030. Here’s what’s driving growth across the five biggest RWA categories.
1. US Treasuries — The biggest tokenized asset category at $15 billion. BlackRock’s BUIDL fund alone has over $2.2 billion and has paid out more than $100 million in dividends. It runs on Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Optimism, Aptos, and BNB Chain. In February, Uniswap Labs and Securitize made BUIDL shares available on UniswapX — a major step for putting regulated funds on DEXs.
2. Private Credit — Tokenized private credit sits at $6.2 billion. The appeal is higher yields than government debt, plus the liquidity that tokenization brings to a sector known for years-long capital lockups. Maple Finance and Stokr each hold about 22% market share.
3. Stocks and ETFs — Currently $2.19 billion, up almost 50% in 30 days. The DTCC plans to pilot tokenized securities trading starting this month with over 50 financial firms including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Citigroup. Ondo Finance holds roughly 60% of the tokenized equity market.
4. Gold and Commodities — Tokenized commodities hit $5.8 billion in March before settling to $4.7 billion. The US-Iran tensions earlier this year stress-tested these markets in a revealing way: when traditional markets closed, onchain commodity perpetuals were the only game in town. Weekend volumes on these platforms are up ninefold since the start of 2026.
5. Real Estate — Still the smallest category at just $202.7 million, but that’s about to change. Dubai’s Land Department kicked off phase two of its property tokenization project, and more regulated markets are getting involved.
Total RWA holders hit 937,928 — up 13% in June alone. The sector is still tiny by TradFi standards, but it’s scaling fast.
