Belgium’s financial regulator just named six crypto-asset service providers it says are operating without authorization. The warning came days after the EU’s MiCA transitional period expired on July 1.
The FSMA flagged Aurum Foundation, Bank Bit, Bithf Pro, Dxago, Global Dynamic Trade, and ZeriaFunding. All six got added to the regulator’s fraudulent CASP list. The message to consumers: don’t accept offers from these companies, and always check the official CASP register.
This is enforcement phase for MiCA. The regulation came into force at the end of 2024, creating a unified framework across Europe. But there was a transition period. That’s over now. Existing providers either got authorized or had to stop offering services.
The deadline has been a real pressure point. Binance pulled its MiCA application in Greece on June 24, saying it would seek authorization elsewhere in the EU. They insisted they’re “not leaving Europe” but acknowledged some users might be affected.
The FSMA also reminded people that crypto assets are volatile, can have liquidity problems, and aren’t covered by any compensation scheme. Standard disclaimer, but worth hearing when regulators start naming names.
