A startup has unveiled what it calls the world’s first subcritical, solid-state, factory-built thorium nuclear reactor. It’s 3D-printed. And they say it’s for AI data centers.

The reactor module is designed to be manufactured in a factory — not built on-site like traditional nuclear plants. That changes the cost and timeline math significantly. The company claims the design uses thorium, which is more abundant than uranium and produces less long-lived radioactive waste.
