But none of that has stopped him from missing physical phone keyboards. In an interview with The Verge, Erick revealed what gadgets he actually uses — and which ones were a waste of money.
His most indispensable tool? A Moleskine and a pen. Simple enough.
He misses typing on a BlackBerry keyboard. He’s nostalgic for the iPod 4th gen — his favorite gadget ever. And the most disappointing gadget he ever bought? The Nokia N-Gage. He was one of the few people who actually spent money on that thing.
His happiest moment online: the screen that says “Your order has been placed.” Relatable.
Resident Evil 4 for GameCube gets the nod for fondest gaming memories. “I played this game so many times until my eyes were bloodshot red,” he said. The CRT TV he played it on was so big it took four people to move.
Tech trend he wishes would go away? VR. “I’m not really a fan of putting things over my eyes to augment my reality,” he said. “Sorry to anyone who is obsessed.”
His current obsession is comic books. He bought a bunch of records at VinylCon and collects Absolute Batman and Invincible comics.
When he needs to focus, he turns his phone off. Or pretends he doesn’t have one. Same answer for when he’s stuck. He takes walks without his phone all the time, carrying a digital audio player with no internet connection. “I can focus on the music entirely.”
