Meta has a new app called Pocket. No, it’s not the read-it-later tool Mozilla shut down last year. Completely different thing.
This Pocket is an AI playground. You type a prompt, and it generates little interactive experiences — “gizmos” — that respond to touch, phone tilt, sound, even your camera. Think mini games, interactive art, weird experiments.
Mark Zuckerberg has been talking about AI as the next social platform. Pocket looks like the first real product of that vision. You make something, share it, and other people can remix it. It’s social media built on AI generation.
Meta hired engineers from Atma Sciences Inc., the company behind an app called Gizmo. Pocket’s screenshots look very similar to Gizmo. Meta got a non-exclusive license to use their tech.
One catch: Pocket isn’t available in the US yet. Google Play shows a “not available in your country” message for American users. The app also doesn’t appear on the US App Store. Meta says it’s “not yet available everywhere.”
Pocket is a fascinating bet. Whether people actually want to browse a feed of AI-generated gizmos is another question.
