Krafton settled its legal fight with Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment. The deal includes staff bonuses — paid out in three yearly installments.
The mess started last year. Krafton pushed out the studio’s cofounders and CEO ahead of a potential $250 million bonus if financial goals were hit. The executives sued. A judge reinstated CEO Ted Gill in March. Subnautica 2 launched in early access in May and sold four million copies in five days.
Krafton confirmed the settlement in a statement to Game Developer: all pending legal proceedings are dismissed. Bonuses go to all Unknown Worlds staffers, not just those from the 2021 acquisition.
Ted Gill is out though. He told Bloomberg they mutually agreed to part ways and new leadership is best for the studio.
