Kobo recently bumped the Libra Colour to $259.99. Bad timing for buyers. But now it’s back down to $229.99 at Best Buy, Target, and Kobo’s own store.
That’s the original price. The hike? Erased.
If you’re not locked into Amazon’s ecosystem, this is arguably a better buy than the $249.99 Kindle Colorsoft. Both have sharp seven-inch color displays. The Libra’s colors are slightly less vibrant, but close enough. It’s also waterproof and has adjustable warm lighting.
The Kobo pulls ahead in a few areas. It supports EPUB and more file formats. Double the storage at 32GB. Physical page-turning buttons — which honestly feel more natural than tapping a screen. And you can use the optional Stylus 2 to annotate ebooks, take handwritten notes, or convert handwriting to text.
Notebook replacement? No. The Elipsa 2E or Kindle Scribe are better for that. But for quick notes? Way more practical than pulling out your phone.
Also works with Instapaper for offline reading. Nice touch.
